Wieliczka Salt Mine

The Salt Mine in Wieliczka is one of the oldest mines in the world. The salt was excavated here already in 13th century! Since that time 26 shafts and over 2000 chambers, located on 9 levels, have been created. The 9th level lies 327 metres below ground.

The tourist route connects three levels and reaches 135 metres under the surface. It joins about 20 chambers, among which the most beautiful is the chapel of St. Kinga with the unique relief sculpture "The Last Supper".

The Salt Mine, listed at UNESCO World Heritage List, is also known for its microclimate used for the treatment of asthma, allergies and other illnesses.
