Welcome!

My name is Aleksandra Kowalczyk. I am a licensed Krakow guide and a tour leader, guiding not only groups, but individual tourists as well.

If you want to see Krakow or its neighbourhood in an interesting and unconventional way - let me be your guide! I`m looking forward to seeing you in Krakow!

Nowa Huta

Nowa Huta is the youngest quarter in Krakow. It was designed as an ideal, socialist city for over 100 thousends inhabitants. The city with its huge steelwork, named after Lenin, was located in the neighbourhood of Krakow, considered by the communists to be the city of the reactionary intellectuals.

Despite the fact, that the plans were not pursued in 100%, Nowa Huta is in this part of Europe only one example of the complex urbanic structure designed in Socialist Realism style.

During our visit in Nowa Huta you will get to know its history and the history of people living here and you will understand the reason why the city, which was to be a pearl of socialism became a place of fights against it. We will see:

1.The Central Square with its representative buildings as an example of Socialist Realism style.

2.The Cistercian Monastery and church with Renessaince paintings.

3.Steelwork Administrative Centre, commonly known as " the Dodge`s Palace".

4.Solidarity Avenue - the buildings of Stalowe residential district.

5.Wandy and Willowe residential disricts.

6.Roses Avenue, where in the past was located the monument of Lenin.

7.Ludowy Theatre.

8.The Ark - the first church built by inhabitants of Nowa Huta after the years of waiting and fights with the communist government.
